Cassilis is really me, Liam Murray, a thirty-something manager with an insurance firm living on the West Coast of Scotland with my wife Nicola and son Joseph. I've always had a keen interest in politics and, like most blogs, the site is just an excuse to indulge that interest with like-minded souls rather than bore family & friends with it (although I do that too sometimes). It's mostly politics but I'm also interested in art and art history, jazz (in particular jazz guitar) and new media in general so expect all of those to make an appearance from time to time as well
The blog is resolutely unaligned politically and however much of a cliche it is I struggle to find a better way of describing my politics than centrist. Other bloggers who are kind enough to link here tend stick me in a Tory or Right-wing blogs list probably because I'm sympathetic to David Cameron - I'm not too fussed where I get placed on blogrolls but I voted Labour at the last general election and as of early 2008 I still don't know who I intend to support at the next.
No need for anything as grand as a rules page or a particularly detailed comments policy. I'll tolerate anonymous comments (although they always disappoint) but I won't tolerate anything rude, abusive or offensive to me or anyone else - if you find yourself having to be nasty you probably don'thave a particularly well-founded case to make.
